Bill Calls for Study Delinking Lake Michigan, Chicago River to Stall Asian Carp
July 29, 2010 -- A U.S. House water projects bill introduced Wednesday would require the Army Corps of Engineers to study separation of Lake Michigan from the Chicago River and the local canal system to prevent the migration of Asian carp and other invasive species.
The bill, introduced by Rep. Jim Oberstar, D-Minn., chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, is expected to clear the panel Thursday and head to the full House for a vote soon. Read the full story to get the details.
